In this post you are going to learn 10 simple habits that will change your life. They are small differences you can incorporate into your daily life that can make a huge difference. I have tried a ton of small habits but these I found to be the most life changing ones! Whether you are a busy mom or a stressed out student, this can be beneficial to you and impact you in a positive way.
This post is about 10 simple habits that will change your life.

1. Wake up earlier
Waking up earlier can help in making you more productive and start your day earlier. To be able to accomplish that and not jeopardize your sleep, I would recommend to also go to sleep earlier. Also, aim to improve by 10 minutes week by week until you reach your desired wake up time. No need to rush into it! Another tip is to wake up immediately, instead of staying in your bed as you wake up. While it is difficult, staying in your bed may trick your brain that you could sleep in longer, making it harder to wake up.
2. Take a short walk after eating
Taking a short walk after eating helps manage your sugar levels, making you feel more energized. It also reduces the stress hormone, cortisol, to make you feel more relaxed. If you had to start with one short walk a day, I recommend to do the lunch one to take a break from your work day, reduce stress, and feel more energized.
3. Listen to inspiring podcasts
Podcasts are so easy to play as you do any type of chore (or when you take your short walks after eating😉) and they are completely free! You can learn so much from someone and get inspired to do the same. Some of my favorite podcasts that I listen to consistently are The Skinny Confidential Him & Her (this one is my all time favorite), Life with Marianna, and Anything Goes. All these podcasts leave me inspired to become my best and learn from a new perspective.
4. Write down your top 3 tasks you need to get done that day & tackle those first
Often times one has so much to do that day that they get overwhelmed with everything, that they do not get anything done OR they do tasks with little importance. Making sure to look at your to do list and picking out the top 3 tasks to get done that day will make you feel more organized. Once you have those 3 tasks, make sure to tackle those first because often times they are the ones that require the most energy. Once you finish those, you will feel so accomplished about your day, making you more confident. My favorite journal to write those top 3 tasks is the Dream Chaser Journal.
5. Spend 10 min cleaning up at night
Spending just 10 minutes cleaning up before heading to sleep is life changing! You get to wake up to a clean space and keep it clean, instead of letting go and having to cleanup all day on the weekend because you neglected it. Even though cleaning sucks, it makes you feel way better after and listing to a podcast as well makes it less dreading as well.
6. When looking at the mirror, pick out what you like about yourself
We are our own biggest critics and I used to always pick out what was wrong with my face or body as I looked at myself in the mirror. Once I made a shift to picking out what I liked about myself instead, I noticed I was overall more positive and confident about myself. I still struggle with this till this day, but consistently catching yourself from a negative thought about yourself to a positive one works wonders.
7. Don’t take thing personally
I used to always take things personally and as a pisces, I would get really emotional about things not going my way or getting a negative response from someone. Once I learned that I should not take things personally and detach my feelings from situations I could not control, it just made it so much easier to move on and keep going!
8. Excercise
Moving your body daily has so many benefits including reduced stress, improved energy, clarity, better sleep and much more! The key to be consistent with working out is to find an activity you actually enjoy doing. This may take a bit of trial and error but once you find something you like, it will be way easier to stay consistent. Another key to be consistent in exercising is to schedule it in your calendar so you know exactly when you are working out and make time for it!
9. Limit social media
I think we can all agree we can spend countless of hours in social media without knowing where the time went, making us feel unproductive. Developing awareness of how much time you are spending on social media is a good first step to reduce it. Also, studies have shown that if you use social media too much, it increases stress, anxiety and depression since you are always comparing yourself to people online. A good way to limit it is to set limits on your phone to notify you once you reached a certain time in the app and also try to not react to every notification that goes off in your phone, it can wait.
10. Ask for what you want
A lot of people do not get what they want from their life because they simply do not ask. You want a raise? Ask your boss. You want to make a career change? Ask the employee who did it how she/he managed to make the move. Want to raise money for a business? Ask investors. The worst thing you will get from asking is a “no”, but eventually someone will say yes. Also, a mentality that has helped me with this is to not expect anything in return and that has made me less scared to ask people for what I want. You got this 🤍
